Filming Guide
To get the most accurate and useful stroke analysis, please follow the guidelines below when filming your video. High-quality footage helps us provide detailed feedback on technique, efficiency, and performance.
Overview
- Swimmer should swim one continuous 50-yard swim.
- Swim at approximately 80% effort using your normal stroke technique.
- Swimmer should complete a legal turn at the 25-yard mark (e.g., flip turn or open turn, depending on stroke).
- Film the entire 50 yards without interruptions.
Camera Positioning
- Someone should walk alongside the swimmer to capture the video.
- You may film:
- Above water: Holding a smartphone or camera steady and walking along the pool deck.
- Below water: Using a waterproof camera like a GoPro at lane-level.
- Keep the swimmer in frame at all times, ideally showing:
- Full body motion
- Entry and pull pattern
- Kick and body position
Camera Tips
- Film in landscape orientation (horizontal).
- Use the highest resolution available (1080p or higher).
- Minimize shakiness—use a stabilizer or walk steadily.
- Make sure lighting is good; avoid strong glare or dark shadows.
